News: Mumm-ra split

from a Myspace bulletion:

After 7 years, 11 months and 21 days of writing and playing music together us
Mumm-ra boys have decided our journey as a band has come to an end. It has
without doubt been the most fantastic adventure any of us could possibly
have
imagined all those years ago when the rather niave idea to form a band
sprang
from our young minds and led us to the nearest practise room.Since
then we have
eaten in skyscrappers in tokyo, danced with tottenham fans in
cologne, made a
video in hollywood, posed with the playboy bunnies in
barcelona, met real life
rednecks in texas, had street fights with the view,
played glastonbury, rocked
the nme tour to pieces, supported the killers,
the kooks and the kaiser chiefs
around europe and generally just had the
most incredible time along the way.We
would like to thank every single
person who has supported us over the years
whether it be through buying our
album, coming to our gigs or just giving us a
listen. No doubt various
members will have new projects up and running in the
near fututre. But until
then......Mumm-ra fur immer,Mumm-Ra

Album Review: Nine Inch Nails - Ghosts I - IV

Trent Reznor yet again returns after a year of the last release, the amazing concept album, 'Year Zero'. He has now created a new instrumental album, less heavy and more beautiful. It is the form of four volumes, with nine tracks each. There arnt track names, no more than just '1 Ghosts I' and so on. It seems Reznor is now shitting out music, and still keeping it just as good. Now out of record contracts he also now has a great freedom to release music, with this release being free through the interent plus a couple of extra special editions, making this collection of songs, very special.

How to buy Slipknot

Must Have:
Iowa.
Iowa was Slipknot's second album, the one that made them massive, with such athems as 'Disasterpiece' and 'People = Shit'. It was so great it even got them a UK number 1 album.
Should also get:
Mate. Feed. Kill. Repeat.
Although your only chance is to get the mp3's, the cd is very rare and was indepently released by Slipknot as there first release, there are also many fakes around so if your going to attempt to buy one check out this website http://www.matefeedkillrepeat.com/
Not for everyone:
The Subliminal Verses.
This is my least favourite collection of Slipknot songs, it as some great tracks such as 'Before I Forget' but then there is also some that arnt so great such as 'vermillion'.

Today's Youtube picks.

Operation Ivy - Unity (live)

Weezer - My Name Is Jonas (live 1994)

Jeff Fry - Beer (Reel Big Fish cover)

News: Weezer give new details on the new album

It is now comfirmed that the new album will be self titled, being dubbed 'The Red Album' and will be out on June 16th. Rivers Coumo described the new album as "Meaty, crunchy and melodic". Does this mean we will get some more classic amazing songs like the first two albums rather than the more cheesy songs like 'Beverley Hills' and 'We Are All On Drugs' like off the last album, 2005's 'Make Belive'.

If you like The Vines...

Then you should try...

The Hives.

This band from Switzerland will be sure to rock your socks off with as much energy and almost as much crazyness as The Vines.

Jet.

Also Austrailian, Jet have some proper good Alt Rock tunes, with some great riffs, some of their riffs are so great they match The Vine's riff's in coolness

Jet - Hold On .mp3

Black Rebel Motorcycle Club.

BRMC have a really dirty a raw sound, much like The Vines.

The Subways.

Also a trio, The Subways have as much as a mental sound as The Vines and also have just as mental live shows, main singer Billy Lunn is pretty much just a British Craig Nicholls.

Dirty Pretty Things.
To conclude, i think if you like The Vines then you would also like Carl Barat's band, Dirty Pretty Things who definatly have the same punk ethic as The Vines.

Meanwhile The Vines will be realsing a new album this year.

News: The Young Knives record special version of new single.

The Young Knives have recently recorded upcoming new single, 'Turn Tail' straight to vinyl in the studio in just one take! This version is acoustic and obviously will only feature on the vinyl version of the single, the normal version of the song will be released on CD's. This method of recording has not been used commercially since the 1970's.

How To Buy: Funeral For A Friend

Essential:

Casually Dressed Deep In Convosation.

The debut album from the Welsh band really devined what they are today, this is a must have album for all fans of post hardcore.

Also Reccomended:

Seven Ways To Scream Your Name.

The famous EP from the quartet is proberly their most heaviest and most screamoish release, it has some awesome tracks such as the amazing, 'This Years Most Open Heartbreak' and '10.45 Amsterdam Convosations.

If you want more:

Tales That Dont Tell Themselves.

The third full length album from the post hardcore band was a much more matured one, it may not be as heavy as there othermatieral but it is their most beautiful music yet.

Not For Everyone:

The Great Wide Open

The most recent realase was this mini album that featured third album song, 'The Great Wide Open' and some pretty dodgy live versions of some of their more early tracks, which really dont show the true amazingness that FFAF have live.

News: Glastonbury tickets sell badly.

It seems this year Glastonbury wont be the place to be, where in recent years the tickets have sold out within the hour they go on sale but this year the tickets are still on sale after a day, it seems like it is about time Glastonbury release the line up before the tickets, it also seems the poor choice of headliners may be the problem. Kings of leon, Jay Z and The Verve headline, where i have no problem personally with these acts it doesnt seem like Jay Z was a popular choice, this maybe why the tickets are faster selling. This year people seem to be more interested in Reading and Leeds who have the most amazing line up ever (Rage Against The Machine, Tenacious D and more amazing acts), which sold out completly including day tickets the day after they went on sale, and they even went on sale in the evening.

Album Review: We Are Scientists - Brain Thrust Mastery

We Are Scientists have definatly thought more about devloping their sound for this new record. Throughout the album you hear more experimentation, such as the use of synths in there songs. They seem to be putting more thinking in the songwriting. But, of course there isnt the amazing tunes such as 'What's The Word', 'Inaction' and 'Cash Cow' that the first album had, but there are good substitutes from songs such as 'Impatience', 'Let's See It' and 'Chick Lit' are almost good enough to be off of the stunning debut.
